They contain different characteristics, Pastiche, imitates other texts and have a humorous take on society and culture. Hyper-reality,inability to distinguish reality from a simulation of reality. Intertextuality, where a type of media (film, TV, music etc) borrow another media and then make them their own.

The Lego Movie is a POSTMODERNIST film. Explain how the The Lego Movie fits this term.

The Lego Movie is a postmodernism film, as Emmet would be the damsel in distress and Wyldstyle as the hero. It also has mixture of genres as its Sci-fi, romance, animation and action. Batman also challenges the typical "superhero" as he is only there to look good not for a purpose of helping out. It includes Pastiche, the matrix as it imitates it, and where they have over priced coffee mick-taking Starbucks. It also includes hyper-reality as at the end of the movie is goes back to the real world and not in this fantasy world.

Give the FOUR USES & GRATIFICATIONS that Blumer & Katz give accessing media.

Entertainment: Offers distraction from the world
Personal identity: helps us consider who we are; what ideas and values we identify with
Relationships: find things we can share and discuss with others
Information: new information we need to know or take pleasure in knowing

Analyse how the Uses & Gratifications of the Lego Movie Video Game are reflected in the cover.
Entertainment is reflected in the cover as it has an animated picture on the front, which means that the game is fiction so it is as if its another world for the players, this distracts them from reality. It
also has personal identity as you can tell that Emmet is the ''hero'' as he is the biggest on the cover, Wyldstyle is the ''sidekick'' as she is behind Emmet, and President Business is the ''bad'' character as he is towering over them and has an angry expression. This is personal identity as people can connect and decide who they want to be as characters and find which one fits them best. Relationships are reflected in the cover as it's a video game there will be others playing it so they may be able to talk online and play together or meet up and discuss about it. Information as it gives the players an idea on what the film will be about and if they would like it or not.
